A collaboration of three organizations are teaming up to help women entrepreneurs grow their businesses to one million dollars revenue per year. The three organizations: Count-me-in.org, provides small business loans and advice, Womens Leadership Exchange, and OPEN: The Small Business Network from American Express.
According to OPEN, women own approximately 48% of private business. From the article, women owned businesses are the fastest growing segment of the small business sector. Yet only 2% generate $1 million in revenue per year. This contrasts with men owned businesses, where 20% generate $1 million or more per year.
This collaboration wants to address this disparity by providing loans, networking and business coaching to women owned businesses. They are creating a program to award the top 15 women owned businesses with a $45 thousand loan and 1 full year of focused mentoring from a team of experienced business leaders.
